The European Society for Marine Biotechnology was established in France in 1995. The aim of the Society was always to stimulate marine biotechnological research in Europe and as such it is an academic organisation devoted to European and international co-operation within marine biotechnological research and education.

The ESMB will enhance the exchange of up-to-date scientific information by maintaining this web-site  with  current information on research activities.  This will promote scientific collaboration within Europe and increase the mobility of young scientists.

The ESMB will also host symposia on marine biotechnological issues in Europe and help to establish a platform where scientists and industry can exchange knowledge.

The ESMB plan to use funds generated to encourage research and education.
